PLAYA MAYA NEWS

>>> CANCELLATION ALERT! <<<
A late cancellation has just opened up our popular Standard room type for early August, again. Please let us know if interested!

>>> SUMMER/FALL SPECIAL <<<
Just forget about the taxes -- we'll pay 'em for you! Playa Maya will cover the 14% in taxes due on any night you stay with us in August, September or October of 2010, for any unit and any length of stay, and in addition to our other regular discounts. This can mean savings of 30% over 7 nights, as compared to regular nightly rates!

>>> WEB SITE UPDATE <<<
Bookings and operations at Playa Maya continue as usual, our new & improved web site design has just been delayed by a number of things, some well beyond our control (even Eyjafjallajökull, most recently!). That will appear here soon, however please note in the meantime that rates & discounts still showing here for the spring, summer & fall of 2009 are also applicable to the same periods of 2010. But as always, we'll be more than happy to clarify any questions you may have when you submit your request for a stay with us!

SHORT STAYS
If you can't stay for long, make sure to check our Special Short Stay Listing for many openings of 3 nights or less.

HUGE NEW BEACH!
Check out this online album for photos before, during and after the big beach recuperation project in central Playa, including in front of Playa Maya!

RECOMMENDED BY CARIBBEAN TRAVEL & LIFE
Playa Maya is a beachfront bargain... So say the fine folks at Caribbean Travel & Life in their new 2009 Beach Lover's Guide to the Riviera Maya, in which we are the only small beachfront hotel in Playa to be so mentioned. (That's actually on the second page of the article here, if you don't see us at first.) Thanks, CT&L!

RESTAURANT RAVES
We had the best fish tacos EVER at Playa Maya, a small hotel restaurant right on the beach in Playa del Carmen: chunks of grilled red snapper, soft corn tortillas and pico de gallo full of ripe (!) tomatoes, minced jalapeńos, onion and cilantro. All they needed was a squeeze of lime, handily plucked from the top of the Sol beer bottle... Check out the entire review here, if you like!

FROMMER'S FIRST CHOICE!
Of the beach hotels in downtown Playa, this one would be my first choice. There are a lot of reasons to like it... That's what the distinguished Frommer's series has been saying about Playa Maya in print for the last few years, but they have now gone online with that recommendation here, for those who would like to take a look!

We liked your boutique hotel -- the room with the beautiful seaview, the attitude of your staff, and particularly the 'you're someone special' service. Thank you for making our Christmas a special treat --including a gift from Santa hanging on our doorknob. I can't imagine how he knew where to look for us. :-) We certainly will recommend you to our friends -- especially the one getting married in Playa del Carmen in March whose friends are flying in to celebrate the event. We look forward to staying with you again.

Playa Maya, a cozy hotel that first opened its doors in the summer of 2002, is located right on the beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the capital of the Mayan Riviera. A tranquil site located quite close to 5th Avenue, the heart of activity in Playa, we offer you a perfect base from which to explore all the wonders of the Mexican Caribbean, including the wealth of scuba diving, snorkeling and deep sea fishing activites on offer, the archaeological ruins of the ancient Maya at Tulum, Cobá and Chichén Itzá, eco-parks such as Xcaret and Xel-Há, and the attractions and facilities of Cancun and the island of Cozumel, less than an hour away by car and by ferry, respectively.
